Get A Better Job: Biography - Rod Ashley

Rod Ashley owns Ashley Consult (www.ashley-consult.co.uk), which incorporates Ashley Associates and CATS.  It provides consultancy and training services to a wide range of clients, such as local authorities, the BBC, universities, private companies, the European Commission and the Welsh Assembly Government.

Rod’s first job was as a school teacher, before becoming a college lecturer and manager.  Transferring to a university, he also became involved in staff development and moved into full-time consultancy in 1997.  He has led several national organisations in skills and people development, and holds Expert status with the European Commission.  He has written extensively and this is Rod’s 25th book with major publishers in 25 years of writing – an unexpected achievement of which he is proud.  An elected Fellow of several major bodies, including the Royal Society of Arts and a former Council Member of the BBC, Rod also cherishes a certificate in pretzel-making from a Pennsylvanian bakery.

Outside work, Rod enjoys travel, classic cars and is slowly trying to master digital photography.  He avoids DIY wherever possible.  Married to Moira and with two grown-up daughters, Rod admires them all for their own many achievements.

Future ambitions?  Piloting a helicopter, owning a reliable classic car, visiting New Zealand, keeping chickens and bees and, in time, an active, healthy retirement.
